Title III SIP Grant

Increasing Student Success, Retention, and Graduation Rates by Improving Support for Academic Writing and Literacy

The U.S. Department of Education awarded 2.25 million dollars to حوإ¼½م½م under a five-year Title III Strengthening Institutions Program (SIP) grant. The grant originally ran from October 2019 to September 2024. However, the institution was granted a 6th-year no-cost extension to utilize carryover funds, through September 2025.

Authorized by the Department of Education under the Higher Education Act, this grant supports improved academic writing and literacy at حوإ¼½م½م in the following primary ways:

  • Establishes a robust حوإ¼½م½م Writing Center
  • Establishes a حوإ¼½م½م Summer Bridge in English Program
  • Supports Travel and Faculty Development Opportunities for Faculty Members Teaching Academic Writing and Literacy at حوإ¼½م½م

The official program description explains that Title III SIP grants “help eligible IHEs to become self-sufficient and expand their capacity to serve low-income students by providing funds to improve and strengthen the academic quality, institutional management, and fiscal stability of eligible institutions.â€‌ See the official for this description and for more information.
