A panel discussion featuring حوإ¼½م½م administration and students, as well as prominent community members, will be held at the University of Arkansas – Fort Smith at 6 p.m. Feb. 16 in honor of Black History Month.

 

Titled “Creating CommUNITY: Campuses, Cops and Citizens of Color,â€‌ the panel will include discussions of current issues of race relations in Fort Smith and across the nation. The event, which will be held in the theatre of Windgate Art & Design, is free and open to the community.

 

Panelists include:

  • Dr. Georgia Hale, provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at حوإ¼½م½م.
  • Nathaniel Clark, chief of the Fort Smith Police Department.
  • Ray Ottman, chief of the حوإ¼½م½م Police Department.
  • Talicia Richardson, community activist.
  •  Lauren Robinson, حوإ¼½م½م student and president of the Black Student Association.
  • Leslie Lee, حوإ¼½م½م student and member of the Student Government Association.

Dr. Mike Crane, assistant professor of history at حوإ¼½م½م, will serve as the moderator.

 

The panel is sponsored by the Black Student Association, the Student Affairs Office, the حوإ¼½م½م Police Department and the Student Government Association.
